"Darkroom printing is an art form in and of itself.  As artists and craftsmen, we at the Bristol Workshops studio embrace this traditional art form that is in danger of being lost as the digital world has become most commonplace. The true beauty of the hand made print is worthy of the effort."


What is it about a beautiful hand-printed photograph that keeps us going back to using film? Why put ourselves through hours in the darkroom when a digital photo can be printed in under a minute? Posing this question to a film enthusiast is much like asking a French chef why he makes his own stock from scratch - the answer lies in a passion for quality, and a love-affair with due diligence.


We offer true B/W film-printing to our photographic services for those who are interested and still desire the art & craft.  For our wedding and portraiture clients who want to add a little touch of tradition to their digital package, we can provide an additional 24 exposures of Black and White film to your shoot, hand processed and printed in our darkroom. Of these 24 shots, you will chose your favorite to be artfully printed, matted, and framed, all to your specifications. Handmade Print Rates   

All photo sessions are done with a medium format Hasselblad film camera.

Client receives contact sheets from which to select an 11x14 or 16x20 archival silver print made in our studio darkroom. (Other sizes are available upon request)


Two hour session, in the studio or outdoors (on the waterfront)

Materials included    - $750


On location beyond the Bristol area - $900

(Additional travel fees will be assessed beyond 20 miles from studio)
