Digital Photography - Mark Abbott
This is a beginning / intermediate level course. It explores the various aspects of digital technology involving camera work, shooting raw vs. jpegs, understanding histograms, organizing files and storage with an introduction to Adobe Photoshop Elements, the dry digital darkroom.
From there we will cover the basics of photography: exposure, composition, the use of flash, etc. and how these interact with your digital camera, and how you can use these principles to make better photos. Digital participants will photograph in class and have outside assignments, and be introduced to studio lighting. Members of this workshop are expected to provide their own cameras.

Bristol by Camera - Stephan Brigidi / Mark Abbott
Come and enjoy a day of photography focusing on the beauty of Bristol. Our professional photographer will act as guide and instructor, helping you refine your technique and vision as you explore historic Bristol. Past stops have included Blithewold Mansion, Mount Hope Farm and Colt State Park as well as other locations. A great Day Workshop while enjoying all Bristol has to offer. Members of this workshop are expected to provide their own digital cameras. Class time includes three hours of photography and one hour in-studio for review and critique.

Are you a stifled artist with a “regular job” who wants to see your inner artist shine? Self-discovery is the name of the game, and we are there to gently guide you towards it. Release your inner writer and photographer in this one-day intensive yet fun workshop. Two professional women will guide you through powerful, probing exercises designed to help you release the creative person within through writing and photography. We will help you let go of the critic inside your head and free yourself of the self-consciousness that prevents you from expressing yourself artistically. Please bring your own digital camera, journal and lunch.

Building a Photographic Project - David H. Wells
The theme of this project is the student photographer’s choice.
Students will learn the skills needed to create a collection of images on one theme that are stylistically and thematically unified. Before the photography even begins the instructor and the class will review the students’ existing portfolios and define the student’s best-suited areas of interest. Students will improve their editing skills through a series of editing exercises. Finally students will learn how to market their photo-essay to publishers, curators, editors, etc. and how to work with them through the entire shooting, editing and publication/exhibition process. David Wells will also discuss specific strategies in pursuing grants to support such projects and share his own personal examples that have earned him exhibits, publications & grants. Outside assignments will be given.

This is an intensive session in looking at this highly specialized role in photography. By presenting varied and numerous examples, participants will explore the aesthetic, the technical and the marketing involved in wedding and event photography. The session will cover all aspects for those with some experience and those seeking to break into this most exciting field. Participants will be guided in a lively discussion and come away with a broader understanding of the demands and rewards of wedding & event photography

Fine Art Collage - Stephan Brigidi
Create a finished piece of Fine Art with Stephan Brigidi.
Combine your own preferred photographs, found paper fragments and varied findings, in applying loose or formal aesthetic elements of design such as: line, texture, pattern, space and color, to create a visual organization of your composition, Participants will build a meaningful environment of personal treasures with archival techniques.
Choices of presentations and a range of framing possibilities will be shown to complete a finished, personal Fine Art Collage.

It's all about the light! – Chris Vaccaro
This workshop will guide you through various ways to animate your still life through various lighting techniques. Using simple props Chris Vaccaro will show you how to light a good still life under any lighting conditions. Learn how to use natural light, strobe and tungsten lighting to achieve various looks and become a versatile confident photographer. The techniques covered can also be applied to all other areas of photography. So even if you are not a still life photographer come join us! Students must provide their own film or digital cameras.
