MARK ABBOTT BA, Univ. of Cal, Berkley - He is a photographer and martial arts expert and our digital workshops leader and all around tech wiz. Mark has 20 years of teaching experience in the martial arts at UCAL-Berkeley & San Diego, Brown, and Harvard. He is a Personal Fitness Trainer and claims to have a very well trained dog!
JULIE BRIGIDI B.S. Providence College -"I love photographing children and animals because they are pure spirits, honest and natural and a constant challenge". As the Co-Founder of the Bristol Workshops in Photography, she has been exhibiting and publishing her work for more than twenty years. She loves photographing families and their pets and emphasizes the fun in photography, using film and digital imagery to get her results. She will lead workshops in photographing children, families and pets in the studio and on location with models! Her constant companion "Nina," the Fall River retriever will assist her in class.
STEPHAN BRIGIDI MFA, RI School of Design - Co-Founder of the Bristol Workshops studio, he has been a practicing photographer and teacher for thirty years. He has extensively exhibited his work in the US and Europe and published two books of his photography. Stephan is a Fulbright-Hays Fellow, A MacDowell Colony Fellow, and the recipient of fellowships and grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the RI State Council on the Arts. Stephan's work is represented in more than twenty museum collections worldwide. When not photographing, he is passionately working on environmental issues or flying about on his green Vespa!
KRIS CRAIG, BS, UMASS, Amherst - Kris has been working as a photojournalist for close to 30 years, and is currently a senior photographer at the Providence Journal. He considers himself a storyteller first and foremost. The eclectic mix of assignments encompassing all aspects of photography keeps him rooted in the newspaper and magazine business. The business is evolving, the technology is advancing but the storytelling remains the same. Kris, his lovely bride and darling daughter live in RI. He breathes easily; knowing he will die an award winning photographer and the stories will go on.
CHRIS VACCARO, BFA, Rochester Institute of Technology - Chris has been a commercial and editorial photographer in Providence, RI since 1993. After graduating from college Chris was fortunate to go back to his hometown of New York City and work as an assistant for some of the top commercial and editorial photographers. This experience along with summers spent at the Maine and Santa Fe Photographic Workshops helped expand his knowledge and apply it to his own photography. Chris is excited to now share some of this knowledge with you!
DAVID H. WELLS, BA, Pitzer College - Photojournalist David H. Wells produces in-depth photo-essays for publication and exhibition. From 1986 to 1996 he produced 16 photo-essays for the Philadelphia Inquirer Sunday Magazine. His work from the U.S., the Middle East and Asia has also been published in Geo, Life, National Geographic, The New York Times and Time among other publications. His photo-essays have earned grants from Nikon, the Pennsylvania and New Jersey Councils on the Arts and the MacArthur Foundation.
